Terms of Use

Last updated October 10, 2026 · Effective October 10, 2026

1. Your agreement with us

These Terms of Use govern your use of CarGo. CarGo is provided by Granite Peak Engineering LLC, a California limited liability company. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean the provider of CarGo, and "you" means the person who accepts these terms and, if that person acts for a business, that business.

You accept these terms by tapping I agree on the "Before CarGo starts" screen in the CarGo app, which links to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. CarGo records the version you agreed to and when. If you do not agree, do not use CarGo. You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract. If you act for a business, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these terms for it.

The Privacy Policy explains what data CarGo collects, why, who else handles it and how long it is kept. Accepting these terms does not take away any privacy right the law gives you.

2. Definitions

These terms, our Privacy Policy, and the app use these words with these meanings:

The Privacy Policy says exactly what CarGo keeps and for how long.

3. What CarGo is, and what it is not

CarGo uses AI image models to compare the vehicles your connected Ring cameras record with the vehicles you set up in CarGo. It can tell you when one of your vehicles arrives or leaves, and whether a vehicle is in a parking space you mark (on the paid plan, and up to 4 spaces during the free trial). The help assistant in the app is also AI, and it can also make mistakes.

Recognition is probabilistic. CarGo will sometimes miss a vehicle, alert on the wrong one, show the wrong parking status, or send an alert late or not at all. This happens most often during its first days with your cameras. Similar-looking vehicles can be confused, and setting up more vehicles can lead to more alerts for vehicles that are not yours. Your settings, quiet hours and weekly limits can also delay or stop an alert; some motion clips are checked later, and those can produce a sighting without an alert.

CarGo does not look for emergency vehicles, does not listen for sirens, and does not transcribe or analyze sound.

CarGo is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Ring LLC or Amazon.com, Inc. "Ring" is a trademark of Ring LLC.

4. Not a safety or emergency service

CarGo is a convenience. Do not rely on it to protect people or property, to prevent a crime or an injury, to confirm that someone has arrived safely, to find out where a person is, or to make any decision in an emergency. CarGo does not contact 911, the police, the fire department or medical services. Do not connect CarGo to any alarm, dispatch or emergency system, or to anything that acts automatically on an alert. A match score, a sighting or an answer from the help assistant is not proof of who someone is, who owns a vehicle, or that anything wrong happened.

5. Your Ring account, your cameras and service limits

You must have the right to use the Ring account and the cameras you connect, and you remain responsible for following Ring's terms and the laws that apply to recording where your cameras point. Ring's own terms and privacy notice govern Ring's services. Keep the email account you sign in with and your devices secure, and tell us promptly if you think someone else is using your CarGo account.

CarGo can only check the cameras and videos that Ring makes available to it under your connection and your Ring subscription. Ring gives CarGo only videos recorded after you connected CarGo, so CarGo cannot search video from before that. You can give CarGo a shared video where the app offers it, if you have the right to share it.

A new account starts with a 7-day free trial that includes 2 vehicles on up to 2 cameras and up to 4 parking spaces. The paid plan includes 5 vehicles. Each camera has a weekly limit on how many motion clips are checked. The app shows your own limits under Menu, Account. When CarGo is sold through the Ring Appstore, the trial is Ring's, and Ring's dates decide when it starts and ends.

CarGo depends on access that Ring provides. Ring may change, limit or withdraw that access, and then some or all of CarGo may stop working. If that happens, we will tell you what we know as soon as we can, and we will respect any refund and consumer rights you have under the law.

6. Acceptable use

Only vehicles you may track. Use CarGo only for your own household's or business's vehicles, on cameras you are entitled to use. You may only track vehicles that you own, or vehicles whose owner has given you permission to track them. You must not use CarGo to follow or monitor another person. Owning a vehicle or a property does not give you permission to secretly monitor a person.

You must not:

If you use CarGo at a business, a job site, or any other place where employees, contractors, or visitors are recorded, you are responsible for giving them the notice and obtaining the consent that the law and Ring's rules require, and for any signage those rules call for. A video downloaded from Ring can contain sound, even though CarGo does not analyze it.

The help assistant. CarGo's help assistant is for questions about CarGo only. Repeated questions outside this scope may pause your access to the assistant, and attempts to misuse the service may lead to account suspension. A question that is only off topic is not by itself a reason to report anyone to law enforcement.

Reporting abuse. Anyone, customer or not, can report abuse of CarGo by email to support@cargohold.io with the subject "Report abuse". A person reads every report. We may limit what CarGo checks, suspend an account, or look into the report further. Any disclosure to another organization follows our Privacy Policy and the law.

7. Price, subscriptions and canceling

CarGo is $19.95 per camera each month. CarGo does not charge you directly, and you will not be charged without agreeing to the price first. Before you subscribe, Ring's checkout shows the price, how often you are billed, how the subscription renews, and how to cancel.

When CarGo is sold through the Ring Appstore, subscriptions are billed monthly by Ring. You subscribe, manage and cancel in the Ring app under My Apps, and Ring handles payment and refunds under its own terms, subject to your rights under the law. Ring allows one trial per customer, and the trial does not turn into a paid plan by itself: when it ends, CarGo stops checking your cameras unless you subscribe. When a camera no longer has an active subscription, CarGo stops checking that camera. During early access, an account's own CarGo trial, outside the Ring Appstore, can keep checking after it ends, at no charge. You remain responsible for any separate Ring subscription you need for recordings.

Deleting your CarGo account, turning off alerts or removing the app from your phone does not cancel a subscription through Ring. Cancel it in the Ring app under My Apps as well. We will announce any price increase at least 30 days before it takes effect, and it will apply only to a later billing period.

8. Your content and our software

You keep whatever rights you have in your content. You give us a limited permission to receive, copy, process, store and send your content only as needed to provide CarGo to you, support it, keep it secure, and meet our legal obligations, as the Privacy Policy describes. This includes processing by the companies listed there and sending alerts to the devices and addresses you choose.

This permission does not give us ownership of your recordings, does not let us publish them, and does not let us use them to train AI models for other customers. It ends when CarGo stops processing and keeping your content as the Privacy Policy describes. It does not replace any permission you need from the people your cameras record.

We keep all rights in CarGo's software, designs and branding. You may use CarGo for your own household's or business's purposes under these terms. You may not copy, distribute or sell the service or its software, except where the law allows. Security research is covered by our security page.

9. What CarGo keeps, and deleting it

The Privacy Policy lists every kind of data CarGo keeps and for how long. In short: sightings are kept for 90 days after the event; motion clips are deleted right after the analysis; shared videos are deleted within 24 hours; small pictures of recently seen vehicles are deleted within 7 days; and your vehicles' setup pictures are kept until you delete the vehicle or your account.

Deleting your account. In the app, open Menu, then Account, then Delete my account, and type DELETE. CarGo deletes your account and the data it stores right away and sends one confirmation email to your account address. If your account is suspended, email support@cargohold.io to ask for the deletion instead. The Privacy Policy lists the records and copies that remain after the deletion, some of them with no fixed time limit.

Removing CarGo in Ring. If you remove CarGo from the Ring app, CarGo stops using your cameras right away and deletes your data 30 days later, unless you connect CarGo again within those 30 days.

When a subscription ends. CarGo stops checking a camera that no longer has an active subscription. Your account is not deleted, and the data CarGo keeps stays for the periods in the Privacy Policy until you delete it or your account.

Turning off alerts or hiding a sighting does not delete anything. Deleting CarGo data does not delete recordings in your Ring account, videos you downloaded, emails you received, or copies on your devices.

10. Suspension and ending the service

You can stop at any time: delete your account in the app, remove CarGo in the Ring app, and cancel your subscription in Ring. Each of these does something different, as section 9 explains. Removing the app from a phone, or turning off its notifications, only stops notifications on that device; CarGo keeps checking your cameras until you remove CarGo in Ring or delete your account.

We may suspend or end your access when it is reasonably needed to stop a use these terms do not allow, unauthorized access, or a security threat, to meet a legal obligation, or because Ring has withdrawn access. Where it is appropriate and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You can still ask for help and use your privacy rights while your access is limited.

If we stop offering a paid feature or CarGo itself, we will give you reasonable notice and meet our refund obligations and Ring's requirements. Rights and obligations that already exist when the service ends continue, and so do the sections on content, disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnity and disputes, as far as they are needed.

11. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, CarGo is provided "as is" and "as available". We, our officers, and our employees do not promise that CarGo will be accurate, complete, uninterrupted, secure against every threat, or available at any particular time, or that any alert will be sent or delivered. We disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement to the extent they may lawfully be disclaimed.

These disclaimers do not override a promise we make in these terms or in the Privacy Policy, or a right or remedy that the law does not allow us to exclude.

12. Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, we, our officers, and our employees are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from CarGo, including lost profits, lost business or loss of use, even if we were told they were possible.

Subject to the exceptions below, the combined total liability of us, our officers, and our employees for all claims relating to CarGo or these terms is limited to the greater of fifty US dollars or the amount you paid for CarGo, including through Ring, in the twelve months before the event that caused the claim. This is one total limit for all claims, not a separate limit for each claim.

These limits do not apply to fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, liability that cannot be limited under California Civil Code section 1668 or other law, or rights and remedies that the law does not allow you to give up. Nothing here limits your right to contact a regulator.

13. Claims by others

To the extent the law allows, you agree to hold harmless, defend, and indemnify Granite Peak Engineering LLC, its officers, and employees against claims by others, and the resulting liabilities, damages, judgments, settlements and reasonable legal fees, to the extent they are caused by your recording or monitoring people or places without the right to do so, your violation of another person's rights, your lack of authority to connect a camera or provide content, or your serious breach of section 6.

This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own negligence, willful misconduct, unlawful conduct or breach of these terms, and it does not require you to cover anyone for your own good-faith claim under a consumer or privacy right that cannot be waived. We will tell you promptly about a claim for which we ask your protection. You may control the defense with qualified counsel reasonably acceptable to us, and we will cooperate reasonably. Neither side may settle such a claim in a way that admits fault for the other, or places an obligation on the other, without the other's written consent, which will not be unreasonably withheld.

14. Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem with CarGo, please tell us first: use Help in the CarGo app, or email support@cargohold.io with your account email and a short description. We will try to resolve it. Telling us first does not delay any urgent relief or legal deadline.

California law governs these terms, except where the law of your place of residence gives you protections that cannot be waived. Subject to those protections and to your right to use a small claims court, disputes about CarGo or these terms may be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California. These terms do not require arbitration and do not waive your right to take part in a class action. Ring's own terms govern disputes about Ring's services.

15. Changes to these terms

When we make a material change to these terms or to the Privacy Policy, we will date it here, tell you in the app or by email, and the app will ask you to agree again. Once CarGo reads that you have not agreed to the new version, normally at its next check, it checks no more video for your account until you agree. We will not apply a new dispute rule to a dispute that already exists. If you do not accept a change, you can stop using CarGo and delete your account as section 9 describes, without losing rights you already have.

If we change the kinds of things CarGo detects, or replace the models it uses in a way that could change what you receive, we will tell you in advance, and any new kind of detection will be off for your account until you turn it on.

16. Other terms

If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in effect as far as the law allows. If we do not enforce a part of these terms once, we can still enforce it later. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about CarGo; Ring's terms govern Ring. Our officers and employees may rely on the protections in sections 11 to 13. No one else gains rights under these terms.

17. Contact

For help, use Help in the CarGo app. You can also email support@cargohold.io.

October 10, 2026: these Terms of Use replace the earlier Terms of Service. They explain how you accept them, add the rules on acceptable use in more detail, and add sections on price, your content, suspension, disclaimers, claims by others, and changes. The app asks everyone to agree again.
